    {http://www.artiekornfeld-woodstock.com/woodstock-poster.jpg} When: Woodstock toook place August 15th-18th 1969 during a time of war. During a time when peace was not likely. Woodstock helped bring unity to all who attended. The drug culture was also taking place during the 1960s. During Woodstock many people were doing drugs such as the popular LSD supported by Timothy Leary.
    ...
    Where: Woodstock was originally supposed to take place at Mills Industrial Park in Walllkill, NY. The Walllkill board of appeals banned Woodstock from their town because they didn't think that it would meet all of the standards for the town. Instead, Woodstock was graciously held at the farm of Max Yasgur. It was on 600 acres of land which was perfect to hold all of the people they were expecting. The farm was located in Bethel, NY. The location was a huge success. {http://images.nitrosell.com/product_images/5/1223/626018.jpg}
    Why: Why Woodstock happened has been debated by people for years. Some people say it had no purpose and some say it was to protest and rebel against society in a way that would be noticed peacefully. Others said it was to just spread peace and love and be together. People were angry at the government for the Vietnam War so the Counter Culture effect was an effective and peaceful method to show their retaliation. People no longer wanted to stand by their conservative ways, especially the teenagers growing up during the time period. Many Liberal people were happy to participate just to be a part of outraging traditional citizens. Drugs were also a big part of the festival because it was illegal and yet another way to rebel.
